Bathroom Accessories in Mauve

Expert AuthorMauve bathroom accessories are aesthetically restful, and at home with a variety of decorating styles. A beach theme readily embraces mauve bathroom accessories. So does a mythical forest scene.

Mauve bathroom accessories work best when shades of mauve used are taken from a wall hanging. A framed print that features mauve lets you tie in varying shades of that color.

Mauve is defined as a moderate grayish violet to moderate reddish purple color. Some people see it as having more pink or orange hues. For example, Wamsutta mauve towels are decidedly pink-orange. Others picture mauve with bluer tones. Mauve bathroom accessories, therefore, will vary.

Mauve Bathroom Accessories for the Walls

In most home decor projects, it is a good idea to begin with a print or painting that you like. Framed and hung on the wall, the picture sets a color scheme for the room. Here are some ideas for mauve prints.

* Morning glories, dahlias, or roses, especially Old English roses
* Beach sunset, with seashells and birds
* Mythical fairies with wings and gossamer gowns of mauve
* Antarctic scenes with penguins
* Abstract art work

One or more framed pictures of such scenes will give you plenty of shades to match in your mauve bathroom accessories. Frame your prints in light brown wood with white matting.

Other Mauve Bathroom Accessories

Shower curtains, rugs, bath mats, tumblers, lotion dispensers, soap dishes, and other bathroom accessories are available in shades of mauve. Here are just a few of the examples we found.

1. Flowers: Mauve flowers are often featured in bathroom accessories. Roses, dahlias, and morning glories are but three flowers in mauve with paler pink-purple highlights. Tumblers, soap dishes, lotions dispensers, and more are available in mauve flowers on white. Shower curtains, such as “Roses and Lace”, feature mauve flowers. “Oasis Violet” bathroom accessories for the vanity have a shimmering, pearlized violet finish accented with silver borders to give a sophisticated air.

2. Seashells: Although we tend to think of seashells on the beach as being white or sandy in color, many have distinct mauve shades. Mauve bathroom accessories can feature darker mauve tumbler, dispensers, etc. with seashells scattered on their surfaces. Shower curtains of seashells show off several shades of mauve on an off-white or beige canvas. “Beach Haven” is a good example of seashell bathroom accessories.

3. Penguins: The light of an Antarctic sky is often filled with mauve hues. Add black and white penguins, and you will find mauve bathroom accessories that are at once whimsical and natural. One set, named “Penguin Party”, offers curtains, towels, mats, waste basket, and tissue box cover in mauve, beige, and white as icy backgrounds for black and white Emperor penguins. The ceramic soap dish is a penguin in sliding position. Ceramic tumblers, dispensers, and toothbrush holders are upright penguins with mauve touches.

4. Leaves: Try mauve leaves on bathroom accessories for a woody decor. An example is a set named “Leaf Diaries” bathroom accessories. Each accessory is done in olive green and beige centered with a mauve leaf. Leaf shapes vary on these chic bathroom accessories. The shower curtain includes all of the leaf shapes.

5. Fairies: For a little girl’s bathroom, you might choose mauve bathroom accessories in a fairy theme. “Fairytales” is the name of a set that has a mauve shower curtain, accent rug, tissue box cover, switch plate, tumbler and more in mauve. The mauve is dressed up in bright pink, blue, and green, as frogs, dragonflies, and other unusual creatures hop or fly across them.

6. Abstracts: Perhaps a unique abstract style fits your decor best. Mauve bathroom accessories in geometric patterns or in swirls of color would be fitting. You can find shower curtains that feature one large abstract work of art in mauve, yellow, and deep teal.

Mauve bathroom accessories will, as indicated, vary in color. Rather than try to match everything precisely, you may want to take several shades of mauve from your wall paintings and reflect them in different bathroom accessories.
