Finding Rubber Duck Bathroom Accessories

You will not want to overdo rubber duck bathroom accessories, of course. Too much of a good thing is - well - too much! You can use the colors of your rubber duck bathroom accessories as well as the ducks themselves to tie your theme together, but keep the ducks to a reasonable number.

These ideas may help you find the right rubber duck bathroom accessories for your bathroom.

1. Artwork: Begin with a nice piece of framed artwork featuring rubber ducks. The artwork can set the mood for the type of rubber duck bathroom accessories you will choose. If the bathroom is predominantly for children, your rubber duck artwork might be a soft painting. Other rubber duck bathroom accessories would follow the mood, and be soft, happy ducks. Teenagers and adults would appreciate a poster or print of the “Make-a-Wish Foundation” release of hundreds of rubber ducks in black sunglasses. Other rubber duck bathroom accessories would likewise be more sophisticated and chic.

2. Clock: While choosing rubber duck bathroom accessories, don’t forget to add a wall clock to help everyone get ready on time. Several rubber duck clocks are available.

3. Switch plate: Ducky switch plates are must-have rubber duck bathroom accessories. They come with one or two rubber ducks, or a whole family of small ducks.

4. Toys: You will want at least a couple of toys that qualify as rubber duck bathroom accessories. Place them on the side of the tub so they are ready to swim.

5. Wastebasket: A ducky wastebasket is not just for used tissues. These rubber duck bathroom accessories can and do hold rolled towels or magazines.

6. Other: Other good rubber duck bathroom accessories are a tissue box cover, soap dish, towel holder, tumbler, soap dispenser, and toothbrush holder.

7. shower curtain hooks: a plain colored shower curtain with rubber ducky shower curtain hooks is a good way to continue the theme without overdoing it. Buy a shower curtain in one of the colors from your artwork. The “Duck-on-wave” shower curtain is an alternative, with matching “Duck-on-wave” rubber duck bathroom accessories.

8. Rugs and Mats: Although rubber duck bathroom accessories can include rugs and mats for the floor, we think this is carrying the theme too far. Better to use plain floor mats and towels in one of the colors from your ducky artwork.

Remember, when it comes to rubber duck bathroom accessories, enough is enough and too much is plenty.

Small Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

Expert AuthorSmall bathroom remodels call for a different approach than not so small bathroom remodels. The beginner may view small bathroom remodels as being easier than larger ones. After all - the room is small! The novice may decide it will be easy to replace a tub with a shower. While doing that, he or she may think of changing the location of the toilet.

Small bathroom remodels are not that easy, however, and any tasks such as the examples above are best left to professional contractors and plumbers. With a contractor, you may even be able to move walls and increase space during Small bathroom remodels. Without a professional, you may get in over your head with such ideas.

Small Bathroom Remodel Ideas You Might Undertake

Self Bathroom Remodeling is an option, of course. You may be a licensed contractor. You may be an experienced handyman or handywoman. Your small bathroom remodel may be limited to new paint on the walls, and replacement of a couple of towel bars.

Here are a few ideas on how you might do small bathroom remodels.

* Vanity Replacement: This is not necessarily the easiest part of a small Bathroom Remodeling project, but it is a quick way to make a small bathroom appear larger. Showing more floor space will fool the eye into thinking there is more square footage in the room. If you are careful, you can replace your vanity with a wall or pedestal sink that lines up with the current plumbing. You will not have to re-route pipes as part of your small bathroom remodel.

* In-Wall Cabinets: With your vanity gone, you may wonder what to do with things kept in it. In-wall cabinets fit between the studs and are flush with the wall. Since they do not protrude into the room, they save space while providing storage. A small bathroom remodel can easily incorporate this task - most are readily installed.

* Wall-hung Toilet: If you are a plumber, or want to hire one, you can add toilet replacement to your small Bathroom Remodeling project. A wall-hung toilet will open up floor space, just as a wall-hung sink will. Your small bath will look larger as a result.

* Mirrors: Many small Bathroom Remodeling projects forget this inexpensive trick. Large mirrors will reflect the room and make it look much larger. They will also bounce light around the room, making it seem airy.

* Tub/shower curtain or door: Use a clear shower curtain or a clear glass door if your small bath has a tub or shower. It will appear to add space to the room. If you want even more space, hire someone to replace the tub with a small shower stall. If the small bathroom remodel will result in a powder room, remove the tub altogether.

* Little Things: Little things mean a lot - in small bathroom remodels as in much of life. Look around your bathroom for ways to make it appear roomier. Avoid large towel bars. Fold towels on smaller bars. Hang double towel bars to use wall space. Eliminate floor mats or throw rugs. Remember, you want to show unbroken floor space.

Small bathroom remodels may involve construction permits and contractors for big changes, but you yourself can do many things to improve the room. For more information on small Bathroom Remodeling you can do, click here to read our article, Bathroom Remodeling - Construction and Contractors.

Bathroom Design for Seniors - Part 3

Expert AuthorSenior friendly bathroom design, as discussed in parts 1 and 2 of this article, is increasing in popularity as Baby Boomers enter their senior years. The most common place of injury to senior citizens is the bathroom, making senior friendly bathroom design a priority.

Senior friendly bathroom design can begin with minimal effort, as long as the senior is not ill or handicapped in some manner. We have already looked at a dozen minimal ways to accomplish senior friendly bathroom design.

The ideas below involve greater expense and/or a licensed contractor. Still, many seniors appreciate the bathroom design safety they provide.

Senior Friendly Bathroom Design Ideas

Senior friendly bathroom design can make it easier for ill, handicapped, or weak seniors to bathe and use other bathroom facilities. The bathroom design ideas that follow are geared toward providing comfort, and reducing the possibilities of slips and falls.

1. Walk-in Tub: Your vintage tub may be an “accident-waiting-to-happen” in the bathroom. A spa or whirlpool bath may also be dangerous. Getting into and out of any tub becomes more difficult as we age. Incorporating a walk-in tub into your bathroom design can provide greater safety. The low level entry makes it easy for almost anyone to access the tub. You simply walk in, close the low door, sit down on the built-in seat, and turn on the water. Many of these tubs have thermostatically controlled hot water to provide comfortable bathing without danger of scalding.

2. Carpeting: If water spills occur and the senior is unable to wipe them up immediately, bathroom design should include fully-carpeted floor. Bare floor can afford stability, but water spills can cause serious falls.

3. Appliances: Purchase a dressing table and mirror for the bedroom. Remove all electrical equipment from the bathroom, and place it at the bedroom dressing table. Hair dryers and electric razors can be used more safely away from water, and should have no part in senior friendly bathroom design.

4. Floor: Clear the floor of obstacles. A good idea for senior friendly bathroom design is to replace the vanity with a pedestal sink. This will help seniors avoid stubbing toes on the vanity and falling. Remove baskets of towels and other items from the floor.

Finally, a senior friendly bathroom design will showcase plastic tumblers, toothbrush holder, soap dish, and dispensers. Lower medicine cabinet, shelves, and other necessities to a comfortable, easy-to-reach height.
